Summary

The key points from the meeting were:

  • Service Catalogue & Inventory
    • The issues and requirements for sharing catalogues and aligning inventories across the industry were split into 3 areas:
  1. Catalogue: This was about agreeing a standard template for product catalogues for the industry to enable us to more easily build suppliers products into each other’s systems for onward selling to end users, bundling and in-life management.
  2. Inventory: This is about keeping CP inventories aligned across the industry for improved management of services/products, billing and reconciliation.
  3. Tools for structuring B2B documentation (C2M): This is where, for example, a B2B gateway is developed for a service/product, an XML schema is provided and detailed information on how to use the gateway in terms of business and validation rules etc. The proposed tools would be used to formally structure the detailed information to make it easier for buying organisations to build their systems without the need to interpret informal and sometimes ambiguous Word documents.
    • We agreed to share catalogue templates used within our own companies to see if there was any value in agreeing a standard catalogue template. We would follow this up with work on the inventory. The final area “Tools for structuring B2B documentation” was already in the work programme
  • Appointing and arranging access
    • The Appointing and Arranging Access problem statement/proposal had been completed and the way forward agreed. We however still seeking the resources to complete the work. Volunteers would be very welcome.
  • Location & Address Identification
    • The formal NICC review of the principles document was nearly complete and a number of comments had been received. The document would be updated and we would have to take a view on whether to re-review it or publish and update later.
  • L2C & T2R process standards and schema
    • The formal review of the L2C interface standards document and associated user story requirements had now been completed and they would be published on the NICC web site shortly. In the meantime the reviewed version of the documents can be found on the Publications page
    • Work on the L2C XML (generic) schema had started.
    • The T2R XML (generic) schema standard had now been approved by NICC TSG and would be published shortly. In the meantime it can be found at the address above on the NICC B2B publication pages
    • The “Developers (C2M3) T2R guide ” will be drafted next to bring together all the work done on T2R to provide designers and developers with a guide to producing standard compliant gateways.
  • International standards
    • We were following up work done in the TMF linked to Service Catalogue & Inventory

The key points from the meeting were:

  • L2Csee note 1
    • The first draft of the L2C standard is now on the NICC B2B web site ready for review. Please note the message from Ian. “It is a very early draft of the L2C interface specification. The main sections 1-5 are substantially complete with the exaction of one missing stage/touchpoint diagram and an incomplete non state changing touchpoints table. These sections are based on the T2R specification but have been recast to reflect the L2C requirements. The Annexes are mix of direct copies from T2R changed to reflect L2C and first draft on the new L2C functionality, they are based on the activity diagrams I released last month. I would appreciate comments especially on the initial sections.”

Meeting 26: Review Service ID & Inventory proposals (26/audio) - 28th November

Meeting 26 Summary

The key points from the meeting were:

  • Lead-to-Cash (L2C) Service Inventory proposal
    • Reviewed the L2C service inventory proposals and agreed this would move us from the strategy we have been following to date, ie agree the B2B technical standards and then the process standards for the transactions between CPs in a supply chain, to the next stage.
    • This includes finding ways to share information such as our “service inventory(s)” across the supply chain and a “catalogue” that defines the services and what you can do with them. The aim is to make CPs "easier to do business with".
    • We agreed to inject any of the ideas we could into the current work on L2C and where this fits in terms of the work programme going forward when we reviewed priorities early in the new year.
  • Plan and Progress
    • We have had to move the dates for L2C development out by at least a month while we manage the handover to a new B2B process expert.
    • The T2R generic schema has been drafted and the next steps agreed. The plan is to send it for formal review January/February next year
  • NICC B2B Documents
    • These will be published in the NICC webs site shortly
  • International standards alignment
    • TMF: agreed to work with TMF to align NICC T2R and OSS/J
